In the mid ‘90’s when we redid the area in the back of the
store, Susan wanted a garden area from the start. A place where anyone
could go to sit, enjoy their ice cream dessert, relax and just enjoy the area. A
place that was warm, friendly, and inviting for all to come and take part. A
place where good friends could have a good conversation and parents could relax
and their children could wonder about safely.
So, the plans
were set in motion. This
year the final stage of the garden area is being realized. Since
Susan’s parents are from England we decided to create an
English garden. With the help of Susan’s dad and
the staff at Dayton’s Nursery in Norton, plans were drawn,
plants were selected and work began in mid March. Now,
near completion, the English garden is almost done. English
style benches, accent lighting, a lion’s head waterfall
and an English style chimney pot complete with roses all enclosed
in a picket-fence area.
Now families and friends, on those summer days and nights, can
realize what Don and Susan wanted to create. Great food,
great desserts, good friends and a great place to enjoy it all;
Welch’s Dairy Cream, where ice cream memories are made!
