Wales swimming, humming birds flying are just a few of the many
wind toys at Welch’s Dairy Cream. We are asked many
times where did we get these? Well, Susan’s father, Dennis
Cowles, makes them. A tool and die maker by trade, Dad comes
from Cumbria England. His parents owned a fish and chips store
that was made famous by the artist Lawrence Stephen Lowry in his
painting “'Cowles Fish and Chip Shop, Cleator Moor', 1948.” www.visitcumbria.com/lowry.htm
Retired now, in his spare time he designs and builds many of the
wind toys at Welch’s. The children love them and the
adults are mesmorized by them. Next time, as you enjoy your
ice cream dessert, look to the sky and watch the whale, bird or girl
fly. Remember, at Welch’s Dairy Cream is where ice cream
memories are made! |
